About Marlene
Hi, my name is Marlene Bennett. I am the acrylic and watercolour artist behind Art by Marlene. I have been drawing and painting for most of my life. Although I am mostly self taught I have taken various lessons from accomplished Saskatchewan artists over my career. I enjoy painting Saskatchewan scenery, still life, sunsets and trees.
I am Saskatchewan born, from the rural community of Cupar. Being raised on a farm, I was exposed to the beauty of Saskatchewan’s many scenic venues and sunsets which I love to paint. My love of painting began when I was a young girl, receiving an oil paint by number set for Christmas. My fondest memory was painting the picture outside the lines, blending one colour into the next. I guess I have always wanted to paint outside the lines.
I am a member of the Qu'Appelle Valley Art Guild. I have started Paint, Sip and Inspire classes from my home studio and will be offering beginner acrylic and watercolour lessons upon request.

'Paint, Sip & Inspire' Paint Nights
Cocktail in one hand, paint brush in the other... mix creativity, friends and your favourite beverage into a fun afternoon or night out with friends and family at your location or mine. It’s simple and fun! No experience necessary and beginners are encouraged to join.
I provide ALL the paint supplies. You supply your beverage of choice and a snack if you wish. I will guide you step by step to your completed painting in 3 hours. You go home with your masterpiece ready to hang and show off to your friends and family. I can host Regina Paint Nights and Katepwa Paint Nights.
Art Classes
Never painted before?Want to learn some basics? Not a problem! I offer one-on-one beginner classes or small group beginner classes, which will provide you with basic skills in mixing colour, values, glazing and blending. During the beginner classes we will learn how apply paint and get acquainted with brushes and other tools of the trade. We will also touch on composition and perspective.
Sessions will be held as two hours per week over a two or three week period where you will join me in my studio to practice hands-on what you learn. Just like the Paint, Sip and Inspire paint nights all supplies will be included. When you are done, you will feel confident enough to tackle a painting of your own using your new found skills and natural talent.
